Strong demand for organic products

The demand for organic products is increasing, affirming the decision of the provincial administration to convert the island’s agriculture to organic.

Organic farming is a more cost-effective compared to chemical farming. A pack of 200 grams of vegetables requires a price of Rp 15,000 while a similar set of vegetables produced by chemical agriculture can not be sold at 9000 Rp. Currently 25,000 hectares out of the total 81,908 hectares agricultural land in Bali are grown using methods semi-organic, which includes a deliberate and significant reduction in the use of chemical fertilizers. Over half of these 25,000 acres are managed by groups of farmers who participated in the Integrated System for Agriculture (SIMANTRI).
