Fewer farmers and agricultural land

Plus de 30.000 agriculteurs Balinais ont quitté leur emploi sur le terrain au cours des 12 derniers mois, selon les chiffres publiés par l’agence des statistiques gouvernementales.

There are currently 643,029 farmers in Bali on a total of 3.8 million inhabitants. Last year, the number of farmers was still 673,928, adding that agriculture accounted for 28.45 of the the island workforce. Increasing pressures on land resources development and tourism projects like the construction of villas encroached on former agricultural land, which are now obsolete, especially in southern Bali. The number of workers in the hospitality industry and the restaurant is now 620,045, which are up from 472,840 counted in 2010. During the years 2010, 6479 hectares of land in Bali have ceased to be used for agriculture, with much of it devoted to the development of tourism.
