Eight Bali beaches suffer erosion

Over the last two weeks up to eight beaches around Bali have been subjected to severe erosion due to bad weather and high waves.

These beaches include: Pantai Lebih, Padanggalak, Purnama, Seseh, Klotok, Pengambengan, Jembrana and Buleleng. The general condition of the entire coast of Bali is vulnerable to erosion, but the most severe cases usually occur in South Bali, the worst affected areas have suffered erosion of up to eight feet. Due to the vulnerable nature of Bali’s low lying coastlines, the most predominant problem is the lack of adequate sea defences and loose soil structure in the coastal areas. Local government spatial law for Bali states that any breach must be dealt with immediately according to regulations.
