Boycotts attractions over fee hike

The local travel association has decided to drop several tourist attractions in Badung and Tabanan from their itinerary following an entrance fee increase imposed by the management of the attractions.

The association lambasted the hike as “unreasonably excessive”, the entrance fee increase was 100 percent for Tanah Lot, a famed temple on a huge slab of rock offshore Tabanan. A foreign visitor now has to pay Rp 30,000 to enter the site. Previously, the fee was Rp 15,000. The entrance fee for domestic visitors also increased from Rp 10,000 to Rp 15,000. At another famed attraction, Uluwatu temple on the southern tip of Badung regency, a visitor now has to pay Rp 20,000, more than a 100 percent increase from Rp 7,500, to enter.
